How to Take Apart a Lazy Boy Recliner in Easy Steps

Lazy Boy recliners are one of the most popular brands of recliners on the market. They are well known for their comfort and durability. However, like any piece of furniture, they will eventually need to be repaired or replaced. If you’re not sure how to take apart a Lazy Boy recliner, don’t worry. This process is actually quite simple and can be done in just a few minutes.

Remove the Cushions

The first step is to remove the cushions. Most Lazy Boy recliners have two cushions – one for the seat and one for the back. To remove the cushions, simply lift them up and off of the chair. If they are attached with Velcro, you may need to peel back the Velcro to release them.

Unscrew the Base

Next, you will need to unscrew the base of the chair. This is usually located under the seat cushion. There will be four screws that you will need to remove. Once the screws are removed, you can lift off the base of the chair.

Remove the Arms

The next step is to remove the arms of the chair. Most Lazy Boy recliners have removable arms, which makes cleaning much easier. To remove the arms, simply unscrew the two screws that hold them in place. Once the screws are removed, you can lift off the arms.

Remove the Backrest

The back panel is usually held in place by a few screws. You’ll need to remove the screws that hold the back of the chair in place. These are located at the top of the chair, near the headrest. Just use your screwdriver to remove them.

Now you can begin to take apart the back of the chair. Start by removing the fabric panel that covers the backrest. There will be two screws holding this in place. Once you remove those, you can pull off the panel.

Once you have the back panel removed, you’ll be able to access the mechanism that controls the reclining feature. There are usually two handles that control this feature, and they can be removed by unscrewing a few bolts. Once you have the handles removed, you’ll be able to take the recliner apart completely.
